Is there a reason recurve bows have more robust grips than longbows? Stability? Is is a necessity in the design?

I guess my question is, do bowyers make recurves with grips that look like a longbow grip? I'd love to see the look. Thanks.

P.S. After almost a year of practicing, I'm completing my Bow Hunting Safety Course this week! I can't wait to get out in the field for Turkey season!

Those are all really nice bows. That Great Plains Long Curve is really sleek looking. I wonder if a bow like like that (curve limbs and longbow riser) would feel much different. Smoother, maybe?

My Stalker 3 piece hybrid grip is too good to want a longbow grip. What's neat though, for me, is the choice I have between using my static tip recurve limbs or my longbow limbs. Good luck on your search for what fits you the best. We have great bowyers that can design whatever you want and put it into a great shooting package at the same time!

I have found a high wrist grip gives me a longer draw lenght, low grip gives a shorter draw lenght.
