Somewhere on this site I have heard the term "padded loops". I believe it was in reference to bowstring loops . Can anyone tell me exactly what is involved here and what is their purpose,,,, I am assuming they are used to quiet a recurve bow. if that is correct, how effective are they?
Thanks!

Padded loop is a term the string makers use and it refers to extra string material twisted in the loops making them fatter or wider than the majority of the string. You are correct the purpose is to make the string quieter and increase the loop strength.

I am a true believer also. Have them on all my recurves. My strings are 8 strand padded to 16 strands in the loops.

padding the loops serves only one prime purpose - increase both the surface area and strength of low strand count bowstring loops.
