Best Fletch

I'm still new here so I figured until I learn the rules a little better this was the best place to ask this question. I have a BPE fletcher,and have done some reading on the best fletch,and most say for a recurve it is best to do a helical or offset. My question is when doing a helical fletch do you still offset it some or move the adjustment back to straight? Thanks guys.

You can't do a helical straight.

Both helical and offset are what you want to use with broadheads.  Helical can't be mounted straight, that's why its called helical...off set isn't straight either...both cause rotation.  You do not want a 'straight fletch' with broadheads.

Get a 5 inch parabolic, shield or some other cut, and you will be in the ball park with.

I use 5" parabolic cut right wing helical offset. I bareshaft tune but still like those big feathers, because in hunting if anything can go wrong it will.

you need to adjust your jig so the clamp lays flat on the shaft.

So if using a right wing feather, you would use a right helical clamp, correct?

I my experiance shooting left wing using a single clamp, helical, it is best to set the adj. on the jig to where you get the best contact with the arrow. With the jig you are using it may be what you are calling straight adjustment. (marks on the adjustment line up straight) The clamp is helical not the jig.  Hope this helps.

  I will interject a wee opinion here, if you dont mind of course,  Saunders NPV Fletching Glue  is  THE BEST  Adhesive for Fletching and a Multitude of Other Uses!! I have Sworn by it since I started making My Own Arrows some 10 Odd Years ago!!

That's good advice from everyone,but I think Mon Valley understood what I was getting at. There are marks on the jig that will move the helical clamp in or out. I just wondered if I should zero it out or have a few degrees,but like he said maybe to where it sits on the shaft the best. Also to Shakes I will try that glue. Have any of you tried the new tape they have out?

I have been using a Bpe fletcher for quite awhile and Valley hit right on the head. Don't worry with the lines on your magnet bar too much but get it where you have full contact to shaft and you will be ok.
