What weight leather would be best to make a back quiver? I made one and it works ok but the only piece of leather I had was a little too small and too stiff. I'm going to order some more leather but not sure what would be best. Thanks, Philip

Yep, right around 8oz is the best for almost all types of quivers, back, hip, tube.....it holds its shape well while also not being too stiff.....especialy for a back quiver.

I ran a thread about a good supplier online and after suggestions found some good deals on.  http://www.brettunsvillage.com/leather/sides.htm

Good luck and have fun! There isnt anything better than a quiver that you made yourself!!!

I love using 8-9 oz moccasin weight buffalo! It's thick enough to take years of punishment but still very soft and pliable; unlike a lot of vegetable-tanned cowhide. I order mine from the Hide House in Napa, CA.

I made one using 6-7 oz.  I think it turned out perfect.  Still a little stiff, but I wanted it that way since it will soften over time.

Thanks for the info. I like the idea of the buffalo hide. I will check into that tonight.
