Hi All

I have several mountainous bowhunting trips lined up over the next few years (Elk in CO and Tahr/Chamois in New Zealand) and need to get a new pair of good boots for the trips.

I'm quite partial to Keens, so wanted to see what the general censuses of the SUMMIT COUNTY as bowhunting boots?
Does anyone use them for mountain bowhunting? If so, how waterproof are they?

If you can recommend anything else, please do.
I'm looking for a pair of light weight boots with good ankle support, but don't want massive clunky boots (e.g. something that I can stalk in...).

Thanks,
Nigel

Hard to beat Keens for comfort, however I have no experience with that model.

Never tried the Summit County's, but got a pair of Oregon PCT's this past fall and love them. Wore them for a week straight on a backpack hunting trip in the Shawnee National Forest and never had a problem. Very comfortable and excellent support in rocky terrain.

I have a pair of the summit county's.  I bought them for snow shoeing and winter hiking.  I was comparing them to the danner pronghorn with 400 grams of insulation.  The keens were significantly lighter.  As far as their use in a mountainous environment I cannot say.  But so far they've been a good boot with excellent support and just the right amount of insulation for hiking in cold weather.
