I was hitting left (right handed shooter).. Took brace height out even higher.. Still left.. Took it in 1/2 inch from original starting point. Bingo... Hits dead on out to 40 yards. I haven't gone further than that...  I thought it would be the opposite???

For info purposes, I was shooting a BW recurve.  Had it at almost 9 inches. Took out furhter, then returned to 8.5 or so....

Is there a reason for this, or is that just the sweet spot?  Thanks.
Blessings,
Steve

You were thinking right. The only thing i can think of is you may have been to far out. When you find that sweet spot then a little in or out you see a change but maybe to far out to begin with might have something to do with it, Just grasping at straws here, i may be way off

I may be way off but could you be compensating(the brace height) for a strike plate issue?

For the arrows you are shooting, it may be the sweet spot. Large changes in BH can effect the spine. Flag it's working out for you.

lpcjon2, I tried different strike plates.. Weirdest thing I've ever seen.. I was hitting left, so I used an arrow that was considerably weak in spine and same thing.. Still left...  Changed brace height, keep same strike plate, and got arrows to hitting correctly...

Doesn't really matter, but I like to know why things work the way they do....

THnx guys..
Blessings,
Steve

I was told this 25yr ago, if your arrows are flying straight but to the left then just bring your BH up to pull your arrows back to center.

I think you where having a shelf contact issue that was masking the real problem that went away when you got closer to the proper brace height.
