Hunt at Cherokee GMA

I was on stand Sat evening thinking, " I haven't taken a single pic this hunt". I looked up on a ridge and thought, "Wow that tree still has leaves on it". It appeared as if the sun setting sun was blocked by leaves. In fact it was the body of an elk. Funny how the woods plays tricks on your eyes at sun up and sunset.

After that I spotted what appeared as a deer staring right at me from about 150 yards. It seemed like it was zeroed in on me and I was busted.
It never moved for about 20 minites and never blew or took off after I climbed down. I guess it was a "tree deer".

Joe and I both saw the same nice buck the evening before but he didnt present either of us a shot.

Man, I've got to get back to OK to hunt!  Have a lifetime license I've only used once since I left.  That is cool video!  Did you see any hogs?

Jim, great picks of the elk! I'm like you I forgot about taking pictures until Sunday evening, by then all I was seeing was trees. I could have taken some great pics of the cow and calf  I saw..... Just like for that  big buck,  next time I'll be ready?!?!
