Doug Fir vs. Cedar for arrow shafts

Not built a lot of arrows yet but it didn't take me long to see the light of Surewood Doug Firs. I thought my POC's were premium until I got my first dozen Surewood firs. I agree with others.... if only doug fir smelled as good as POC !!!  :readit:

While I haven't had any TROUBLE with cedar, I find that almost anything else is better for what I am after.  Tougher, more avaliable, cheaper (or free for the effort), whatever.  I really like spruce, even though they are a touch lighter, they are really straight and tough.  Rivercane is also good and free.
