Well as the title says I have never had any luck hunting with a recurve. I've used a longbow for years and have never had a problem filling the freezer. Now for three years I've only used a recurve and have missed more times than I care to remember and this year started off the same. I missed two doe's, three bucks all within twenty yards. Wednesday morning twenty yards a perfect hit and she walked away as if nothing happened. I was ready to turn my recurve into fire wood. No luck in finding my arrow or sign that she was hit. I know I saw that arrow hit. I went to where I last saw her and just on the other side of a log there she was. She went 162 field dressed by the butcher shop scales. I was so excited to finaly close the deal I didn't even get a picture.

I can relate. It took me two years to harvest my first deer with a recurve. That was 45 years ago.

Honestly that was the smaller of the doe's that came in. Over the years there have been several that size. The bucks are big bodied but small on racks. The bow is used was my Morrison cheyenne 52@27  with ICS 400 shafts 50 grain inserts 145 grain zwickey single bevel . Here's a plug for Emmon knives. I used the same knife on three deer this year and its still Sharp enough to pop the hair off my arm.
