Arrows Have Changed, Help!

Since I've gotten back into traditional archery after a ten year absence I've found that arrow shafting has changed.  Carbon arrows where fairly new back then and I stuck with aluminum arrows in my 46# Black Widow. I need to invest in some new arrows and am getting a little confused. I've always used 2018s or 2020s cut to 28 1/2 inches. I've been looking at some Beman MFX classics. Any of ya'll use these? A Zwickey Eskimo with a 100gr steel adapter and 75gr brass insert equals 300grs up front. Is this too much? I guess I just need to buy a couple and try them out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

with that much weight up front.(Which I like)try something around a 400 spine.

At 28.5 I would try a 500.  The 400 will be a bit stiff at 46.

You don't HAVE to use carbons; many of us still shoot aluminum and wood.

I was gonna say 55/75 GT Trads with heavy weight up front.

And I think 35/55s would work with less up front weight.

Started out shooting aluminum arrows 47 years ago and never changed to anything else. The only difference, I'm using a very light aluminum target arrow (2212) to bowhunt with now.

There's nothing wrong with staying with aluminum arrows if you've had good luck in the past with them shooting at live game.

I have no problem shooting aluminum arrows and may stick with them for my Black Widow. I've got a couple of old Beman 400s.  They're a little stiff for my bow but man they sure fly good.

what the shaft's made out of doesn't really matter all that much it seems, from everyone i've talked to. If you're concerned about durability, carbon is the greatest. however, they're a lot more expensive. So, they cost a lot more when you lose them. I shoot wood because I like making them, but have shot aluminum and carbons. I like shooting all of them, and all of them have their pros and cons. It depends on what you're looking for.

The MFX 500's w/300 gn up front and @ 28.5"s should be very close..approx 593 grains and ~13.2 gpp.

An ICS500 would be a viable option... ~28.5"...300 up front...525 total...11.7 gpp

Thanks guys. I'll just have to get some MFX 500's and try them. My old aluminum's are getting kinda beat up. Some have been refletched 3 or 4 times. I like shooting wood and that's what I use through my 1970 model Super K. The carbon's sure do fly great out of my Black Widow and the couple that I have are actually too stiff for my bow.  5 inch parabolic fletching helps. Can only imagine how well some properly spined carbons would shoot. Thanks again.
