shooting in the dark

Last knight I had the best shooting session I have ever had with my longbow. What I did was I set a flashlight on the ground in front of my target turned off the porch light and started shooting. I noticed sense I couldn't see my arrow it was just pure instinct. I am still working on the basics. But it all came together out there in the dark. Started to shoot silver dollar size groups. It had to be the most fun I've had shooting so far. I think it's a good training method for instinctive shooters. Give it a run and let me know how you like it.

We used to set a candle in front of a sand bank, purely instinctive shooting at the finest . Proves there is such a thing .

I used to shoot a candle 15yards in the house. It makes you focus on a point of aim and not the bow.

I do that real often.  in fact almost daily. I let my dog out to do her business and I've got a 3D that is light by the porch light.  I'll shoot a couple of arrows.  The next morning I'll pull them.  Go instinctive practice.

That is usually how I practice...I work afternoons and get out around 1 AM and practice when I get home.

I put my target by my garage and the flood lights light it up...I stand between my house and my neighbors and let them rip, make me concentrate on a spot and my form has to be instinctive as I'm in almost complete darkness.

Pick your spot draw and release...very relaxing!

I figure it can't hurt my chances in low light conditions when I'm hunting!

Laser pointers work well with this type of practice. Our barn is full of hay this time of year and I will take the pointer and point it at a hay bale in total darkness and shoot at that spot, with the barn being full of bales you don't have to worry if you miss. Never thought I could shoot in total darkness but was suprised at the groups I shoot.
