So I've been toying with the spine calculator using the Stu Miller program for a little while now.

I'm running ICS Bowhunter 400's cut to 30" running 125 grain points and they shoot pretty well.

I've been toying with different points and yesterday I cannibalized a 2117 arrow to make footings.

The calculator includes a footing as a variable when calculating dynamic spine.  And by toying with that it looks like I could adjust the tuning on individual arrows to get the ideal spine for shooting various weights of points.

For example it looks like a 1" footing will give me good spine running 125 grain small game points, and a 2" would be good for 150 grain broadheads and add about 21 grains over a stock arrow, and for my bear razorheads a 1.5" would give me a good spine.

So is this a practical way to put together my arrows?  Is stu miller's excel file that on in terms of spine and footing that I could do this?

Stu's program is a great virtual "what if" program. As long as you input the correct info in all of the boxes, it'll give you a tunable arrow. If you nock set is correct, just fine tune with point weight and brace height. With his program, experiment to your heart's content.

I did with my 2212 arrow and I'm probably the only person on the entire TG site who shoots this thin walled aluminum target arrow for bowhunting.
