Do you guys shoot your hunting arrows for everything? Or do you have separate arrows for target and 3D? If so do you guys go lighter on the arrow?

When I find the right setup for a bow I make up 4 to 6 broadhead arrows and shoot them a few times to make sure they are flying true. Then they get resharpened and are used for hunting only. Why blow a hard earned hunting shot with an arrow that might not be 100%.
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!

Same arrows for everything, just change heads.

When I get a group of same spined and closely matched weighted shafts put together then I pick the straightest and best shafts and make them hunting arrows- the others are made up and used for judos or target practice.

Ditto for me too. I'll take a few practice shots, after I replaced the field points with broadheads and if the broadhead tipped arrows hit where the field point arrows hit, I then re-sharpen the broadheads and I'm good to go.

I shoot the same arrows at everything you mentioned.

macksdad

I use the exact same arrows for hunting as target shooting. Once I find a setup that works I practice and hunt with them.

Same here.  Once I find what works, I make a bunch and shoot them all.  Only shooting broadheads right now since our season opens this weekend.  :bigsmyl:

I shoot the same wooden arrows for 3-D or spots as I use for hunting (sans the BH) since I no longer care to compete at these events I see no reason to change my hunting setup to improve my chances of winning a belt buckle that I won't wear anyway..

Do anyone shoot Easton Full Metal Jackets? That is what i am currently using. I figure it would be too heavy for 3D.

Shawn Leonard

I shoot the same arrows for everything, may have few buggared feathers but as long as they are flying well, I am good! I also shoot the same broadheads for practice and than just sharpen and hunt. Shawn

When I get an arrow to shoot good I buy a doz and take 5 or 6 that spin true.

I will shoot a BH out of them to make sure every thing is fine and put them away for hunting, the rest I use for practice and 3d.

X2 except my hunting arrows have pink wraps and pink feathers and broadheads on them. Everything else is exactly the same.

I like my setup because the arrows I use for stumping and 3D shoot the same as what I hunt with so I am familiar with their trajectory.

I use a set of arrows with the same specs, no matter what. Changing between arrows would change trajectory, flight, etc. would negate any benefits of different arrows for me, anyway.

I also use the same arrows for target and stump sooting as I use for hunting.
