I have noticed that my mfx classic arrows make quite a bit more noise when drawn on my rest than my axis arrows. I guess the coating is a little more coarse. Without changing the rest material, I was wondering if anyone is doing anything to quiet them down. I was thinking of trying a teflon spray that would be scent free. Not sure if this would work and what products are available. If I put more pressure on my pointer finger on the draw it helps, but there is still more noise than I like and I don't want any more things to think about when I am drawing on an animal.

What is rest, or shelf material is currently on your bow?
Had that problem years ago when I shot off a rest, A piece of heat shrink and plastic tube fixed the problem for the most part.  If you are shooting off the shelf, changing your rest material isn't a big problem.

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!

I have a very thin beavertail sideplate and what looks like a velcro rest on the shelf. I don't really want to mess with that right now, although a beaver fur or seal skn rest on the shelf would probably help. I like the way the bow is shooting just as it is, but I have more mfx classic arrows tuned to it than other types. I will probably put a different material on the shelf during the next off season.

Out of curiosity, what did you do with the heat shrink and plastic tube?

I would go with the velcro for your shelf and sideplate.  Its tough, quiet, and cheap too.  I've changed all my bows that I shoot off the shelf over to velcro.

Im shooting MFX Classics over veldro for years and had noise problems in two cases:

- if the velcro or the shaft collected dirt it will make noise
- if a tooth pick or something alike is placed under the velcro for a better pivot point  velcro can get loud ,too.

Otherwise ive never had noise issues.

I always had problems with the classics and noise. I now shoot MFX, Axis, or FMJ. That noise isn't worth loosing an animal due to alerting him while you draw. If you wait til after the season to change your rest material you will probably regret it some evening on stand.

Thanks Bill. I was beginning to think I was the only one. Gonna look for some teflon spray. If not may try some fine sanding. Otherwise replacing the rest unless someone else has another solution.

I tried some tire shine gel tonight that was recommended by a good friend. It helped a little, but not enough. The velcro is less noisy than the beavertail sideplate. To bad, because that us so thin. I may have to get some more axis shafts before.season starts.
