Southern Indiana is having a poor year for Squirrels.

How about your state? Do you have a lot of tree rats this year?
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

JV Rooster

Here in Pa. We always seem to have plenty. Its a hole lot of fun chaseing them.

We got plenty in Iowa, that reminds me I need to once again figure out how to skin them. There is a really easy way to do it with just a small sharp knife in the field and every year I forget, the mad cow thing, how to do it. Squirrels are tasty little rats with pretty tails, I know, but they are tasty on the grill. I gotta get me some.

YORNOC

LOADED with them. Grey, red, flying squirrels and more chipmunks than I've ever seen. Predators should have a good year.

Pavan,

The way I skin em' is to make a cut just below the tail, just deep enough to get a good foot on. step on the base of the tail where you just cut grab by the back legs and pull up like you are gonna pull off the back legs (be careful you might if you get too carried away), this shoud start the skin coming off then about half way up through the squirrel stop and then put a finger in each area of the lower legs where the skin has come off of the squirrel (It'll look like he's wearin pants. pull down and away with one hand while pulling up and away with the other hand, which should have most of the rest of the squirrel hide in it). Should leave ya with a squirrel with his pants around his ankles and his shirt over his head and arms, (should look a lot like the scene right before he came home with you, LOL!). Cut off at wrists, head and ankles, and viola! You should be ready to remove guts and be just about ready for the best part....EATING! Hope this helps Pavan, good luck.

It's so easy, anyone could do it, that's right, I cut through the tail bone from the under side, then make a cut to widen that out a bit, then stand on the tail and rip it towards the head. If I miss a year of squirrel shooting, I will forget how to skin them the next.  I got my quiver of squirrel arrows ready to go.

What is your guys setup for the bushy tails? Flu Flus with small game points?

I shoot old zwickey deltas. I like to shoot my hunting setup all the time. I got tired of switching to a squirrel arrow in deer season and they are cheaper than some small game heads. They also fit in my quiver.
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

Carbonkiller

i made a two arrow holder on my dawgware quiver and i use it to store two arrows with hex heads on them.

I use cedars with steel blunts and free three bladers that were made years ago in my town, the metal is so soft you can put teeth marks in them, but they kill squirrels.
