I picked up a new pack of Magnus Stinger Buzzcuts off a fellow Tradganger.  I bought these because I could not get my Wensel Woodsmans shaving sharp.  They were to be my backup broadhead if the Woodsmans didn't work out. I bought a new 120 grit belt for my belt sander and am going to try to get these Woodsmans shaving sharp. What a shock when I popped the pack open and dragged the broadhead across my arm.  These heads are no sharper than my Woodsmans! They didn't pop a hair!  Is this the norm with these heads?  If hunters use these Stingers out of the pack with success, then my Woodsmans are already plenty sharp enough to hunt with.

Sharpster

Just a personal opinion because I'm very biased but, "razor sharp and ready to hunt" is often more of a marketing tool than it is a accurate representation of what's in the package.

The Stingers are much easier to sharpen for most than any conventional 3 blade BHD though. If you need help with either one give me a call. Thanks,

Ron

The last pack of stingers I bought would shave a bit out of the pack. The way I look at it any broadhead is going to get dull in a target or quiver anyway. Just helps to already have a good edge out of the pack. Steel force is what I judge all out of the pack sharp broadheads by. Rob
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

Not my experience Reaper,...I bought 4 packs over the past couple of seasons...every one of them shaved hair off my arm..and I'm talking a complete clean shave...it was almost scary..lol.. That said, my experience with SteelForce is the exact opposite of Rob W... mine were absolutely dull..

I guess it varies but a few trips in and out of the quiver will dull any broadhead. My experience with the Stingers is that the accu-sharp or all-sharp touches them up beautifully...shaving sharp again with just a dozen or so strokes per blade...good luck

The ones I have are very sharp out of the pack. They are stinger but not the buzzcut. The one I have on a arrow has been shot in a block at lest 20 times and it will still shave.

sawtoothscream

my stingers were dull and wouldnt cut hair

my buzzcuts however take off hair like nothing. they were very sharp.

Steelhead

could be a quality control issue.must have got some lemons. All the stringers I have bought have been shaving sharp for me fortunatly.I have probably had about 24 heads total. They were not buzzcuts.

I have never opened a pack of broadheads of any kind I would put straight in my quiver and Stingers are no different.  Do call Ron at KME, believe me you will learn something about sharpening in that conversation.

I never expect broadheads to be sharp out of the package, so I'm never disapointed. I am going to sharpen on them anyway, because, to me, they are not sharp until I sharpen them.

It is your job to sharpen them. You are a bowhunter.

Hattrick

Stingers i bought too were dull, didnt take muck to get them right

Silver Flames are super scary sharp out of the package,  at least the old ones from Markus were.  Definitely no need to put your personal touch on them, unless it just makes you feel better about them.

I have never had one not shave out the pack either.

I always run my stingers over a steel after I mount them on my arrow. They are always crazy sharp!! I love them stingers !!!!!

daveycrockett

I too love 'em. Mine are shaving out of the package.

Not a suprise to me. I have yet to find a broadhead that is as sharp out of the pack as it is when I shoot it at an animal.

Sorry, I'd have to see that to believe it, bro!!  I've never seen a Stinger that wasn't sharp!!??

My experience with the Stingers was that they weren't sharp enough. I worked on mine a little. Still not quite what I want.
