O.K. all you Savannah owners.   :D     I`m waiting on a 45# @ 28" Savannah which will arrive shortly.   :clapper:
I need some arrow selections. So what is everyone shooting with this AMO ?

rraming

Mine is 55lb, I pull 53 and shoot 55-60 spine with 125 tips, I can shoot stiffer just makes them longer. I only shoot wood.

burch

I`ve shot Carbons & aluminum, never got the chance to shoot wood. I should research into it. I admire the traditionalist.

Ted Fry

50-55 # spine tapered wood arrow with a 125 grain point , up it to 160 grain on the point end then up it 5# on the spine

With my Savanna I shoot a 65-70 spine wood arrow with 125 grain tip.

A 1916 or a 2016 would be the two choices in aluminum, depending on your arrow length and point weight.

In my experience, a 45 pound longbow drawn to 28 inches will require a .600 spine carbon arrow.   You will have to bareshaft tune, but start with a full length arrow first, usually 30 inches in this spine.  I like the CE Predator II 2040, and the GT 1535 Trad blems.
TT Pinnacle II  45# 62"
Hoyt Excel  50# 64"

I have a 45# Savanah.

I use a 58.25" 12 strand 8125 EL string with 2 split rubber whiskers. ( 1 whisker split in two per string)

Braced at 7.5"

I when I drew 25.5" from grip to string (27.25"AMO)
I was getting great flight from 57# 27 5/8" BOP tapered spruce arrow with 190grn tips.

Now I shoot 28" from back of grip to string (29.75" AMO) I'm using 68# tapered spruce that are 30" BOP with 190 grn tips.

Again very good flight.

How is the Savannah shelf cut? Past, to, or before and how much?

burch

Not sure how the shelf is cut. Maybe someone will chime in with that answer.

Great bows and very quick, hard shooters! I agree with the .600 spine carbon and leave long and cut back. I would say 30"s with at least 190 grains up front but experiment a bit with point weight. Shawn

My Savannah is 1.5625" (1 & 9/16") wide at the grip, and the shelf is .75" (3/4") wide.

Which means that the thickness of the bow at the sight window is .8125 inches.

Does that sound right?

Does this help?

So does that mean it`s center cut or what ? i`m not sure

LV2HUNT

I believe it is cut before. Do you know what your draw length is?

USAFdad

Same as rraming here 55-60# with cedar drawing 55@28. Arrows are 29 3/4" long. Same arrow flys just fine out of my sons 50# Savannah. Beman MFX 400 also work good in both.

28-3/8"
I won`t know the actual peak weight at my draw length until it gets here which should be tommorrow.   :D

Yeoman Bowman

I think it means the shelf is cut slightly less than center. About 1/16" less than center.
