I have a friend that picked up a great looking Bear Kodiak 60" 50# recurve.  It seems to have been made in the 70's with a raised coin and says Glass Powered. The string needs to be replaced.  I don't think it is actually the correct length string for the bow as he can only get down to a brace height of 8 7/16" fully untwisted.

I need some help.  What length string should he purchase or have made and what is the range in the brace height. A similar topic like this appeared not long ago.  I did a search and could not find it.  I know there are a couple of you guys that are Bear experts.

Thanks guys;

56" string and 8" brace. Tell the string maker it is an AMO 60" recurve.

Hello LA trapper may be it's this topic but it's about a Take down ... no idea if it's the same value / be careful about your string material

Thanks Bjorn, all of the past Bear 60" posts recommend 56" strings, but I was not sure about the brace height.

kibo, it is a one piece bow that is in excellent condition.  He made a steal.
