went to lowes lookin for some cardboard type particle board to make a target with, didnt find any exept for drop cieling boards, wich woulda worked just fine but kinda pricey, and looked over and saw this.  blown in insulation, wow, its compacted and wraped in plastic. bingo!! and its only 6.00 bucks a bale...so..i through a couple in my cart and off i went.

i had a few burlap bags from work and thought i would wrap them with those. and about an hour later i had all the sewing done.

works pretty good, stops an arrow out of a 60# longbow just short of the fletch. so i backed it up against a rubber pad.....might last till christmas.

I like it. Just thinking maybe you should have put them back to back then it should stop the arrow quite well.

Don't EVER let it get wet.

Good idea if you can keep it from leaking.

cool idea, and your arrows will stay warm in the winter shooting. Is that the itchy stuff like  the old insulation was,and does it get on the shafts?

Its recycled newsprint with borites added to retard fire and insects. Very effective and not itchy compared to spun fiberglass

i put 3 layers of burlap on the face side, but im kinda worried about the back blowing out,you can pull the arrows out with 2 fingers, and as far as getting messy , i think its gonna be better than having styrofoam all over the place wich is why i was trying to find something different, original idea was cardboard particle board cut in 1' widths and stacked between 2x6s with threaded rods to smash together,
oh well it should last long enough till i find some particle board stuff. il cover with plastic to keep it dry.

If you have a way of hanging them, one bale should stop your arrows. Alot of the arrows energy will by absorbed when the bale swings.

Otherwise, like stated before keep them dry and I think you have found a good backstop.

is that a roll of telecom lacing cord?

I'll definitely be giving this a try this week.  Thanks Bryant for sharing.
