i have always had my quiver on my bow...  I got a new bow and tuned it without a quiver on it. then i thought i'll just slide my old quiver on and hunt like that. WRONG!  i get poor arrow flight and now i don't like the way it feels with the extra weight.

i like the looks of the side quivers by big jim...

that being said i hunt mostly from tree stands.  i'm worried about carring a bow, stand, pack and now a quiver.

i guess i'm asking how practical is a side quiver for tree stand hunting?

safari tuff quiver by far the best I have ever used.

Kwikee Kwiver and remove it after you get in the stand. You can buy a spare bracket to mount to your stand or tree.

The side stalker works well when carrying a pack or tree stand.  I have tried about everything out there as far as quivers.

Have you looked at the Kanati Quivers by Anawaakee Archery?  They strap on and remove easily and are very secure when on the bow.

By the way, I experienced the same as you did when I mounted a quiver on my bow.  I bareshaft tuned without the quiver, cut arrows/fletched and everything was great...excellant arrow flight. I then installed the quiver and then started shooting which resulted in poor arrow flight.  In the end it cost me a 1/2 dozen more shafts for retuning. Oh well, lesson learned.

Depending on your bow design you may have to drill holes in the riser. Some bows come already pre-drilled with inserts. I'm not sure if they make a traditional bracket conversion.

Eagles Flight Archery produces what are probably the best quivers around, atleast IMHO.

i would think that i would get more opinions on side quivers. i know people use'em.....

For a side/back quiver you couldn't go wrong with the safari tuff, It is the only off the bow quiver I have found that travels/carrys well with a pack! When I carry my climbing tree stand I strap the quiver and pack to the stand with bungie cords!  I am a bow quiver guy, but for the all day sits in a tree stand I'll also carry my safarituff with extra arrows! They are very quiet and protect the arrows from the weather!!

If you are looking for a side quiver that is very "minimal" yet adjustable, functional and top quality as well, look at Great Northern's "Sidekick".

We make bow quivers for those who don't want to retune their bow because of the quiver. Our typical 4 arrow quiver weighs under 6 ounces, fastens tight, and can be removed quickly if necessary.

Roadkill

I was frustrated and made mine with Velcro tabs   I t works. And comes off quickly when I get to my ground stand. Look around at your stash of archery stuff and piece it together

I use to use a bowquiver but did not like the extra weight it put on my tomahawk which has become my #1 bow. I now use a quiver made by the company that makes simmons sharks BH's. It is similar to the Safari tuff quiver except it holds the arrows in certain positions so the fletchings don't rub against each other.

james - i looked at simmons's website and didn't see anything on quivers.  Where do i need to look to see your quiver?
