I received a bow in the TradGang Swap 2011. FedEx dropped it on my porch with no explanation as to why the package was broken in half and what to do next.
Anyone here has any experience in dealing with them?

Oooops, sorry. just got an email that this topic does not belong. Please delete if so. I'll try to find my previous post.

You have to make a claim for the value of the bow. Was the package insured?

Make sure you save the box, labels, paperwork, everything.

Aram

Sorry, I had started the topic before but it disappeared. I just found it it was moved to  Prayers, etc...

Yes, I believe it was insured for $200. Not enough for the kind of work that goes into something like this. I called and tried making a claim but they'll only talk to the shipper.

Flatshooter

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that it was the seller's responsibility to handle the claim. Since the seller packaged the bow,he is responsible if the carrier deems it was not shipped/boxed properly.

BRITTMAN

Im thinking the same as flatshooter  also , I would contact the person that shipped the bow and let them know what happened .

I always looked at it like this. I sold the bow and you didn't receive it as described. I refund your money and I'll deal with making the claim. That just seems fair to me.

That's the way I feel it should work Thunder! Fortunately, in buying, trading and selling over 40 bows over the years, I have never had a problem. Good luck Aram, and I would definitely take Brittman's advice and contact the sender.

Need more details. How was it packaged? Cardboard box? Cardboard tube?

Thank you all.
I am in touch with the sender. He is doing what he can. He just emailed me saying FedEx might contact me to come and inspect the damage at my house. The bow was really well wrapped, no issue there. Because of FedEx internal mistake was shipped all over before getting here four days late. I noticed the package was crushed as soon as I got home. It was a long cardboard box that was bent at the middle about 30º. They even crushed and ripped part of their own shipping label. The carrier had left it on my porch with not so much a courtesy as to knock on the door with an apology and instructions on what to do next. Honesty and a little backbone would have saved them a trip. Both my son and daughter were home, my son's truck in the driveway. The bow was well packed in bubble wrap inside a thick cardboard tube, more bubble wrap over the tube and all this in another shipping cardboard box. Short of running it over with the truck, I'm not sure how they managed to brake it.

Anxious to hear how this turns out... I've always worried about what would happen in this event! Thanks for keeping us posted.

I have had similar with fed ex.  I use US Postal with better results

Mike Mecredy

Always use USPS, I've probably sent 1000 bows (or more) and not one single problem

Every package holds a $100 value, only more if you pay additional for it prior to sending it. That's how I understand it anyway. They are good but they do move some large items in the same vehicles. The postal service does not carry large items, maybe that is the difference.

Good Luck Aram!
