Footed shafts

Well, those of you who shoot woodies and like your footed shafts I have a question.  Do you think they are worth the extra time and money or are regular wood shafts a better bang for the buck?  I am talking about shooting in the yard, stumping, and deer hunting.

Been awhile since I have shot them (20 years), but they will last longer.   I think I was shooting tapered ceder footed with cherry or walnut.  Looks like I was increasing my front of center before it was known to be beneficial.  Once the kids are out of the house and the career starts winding down I probably will start making them again.

Four-footed shafts are time consuming to make and expensive to buy.  They do strengthen the area behind the head.  i use them for hunting sometimes, but not for stump shooting or target shooting. A hardwood foot on a cedar shaft increases the FOC 1%-2%.

I have shot footed shafts as much as anyone, and made more than a few along the way. Are they worth the extra bucks? Only if they are to you. For repair and restoring shaft length Reparrows are far more economical; but sometimes it has nothing to do with price and that's when it is great to have alternatives. There is nothing like a great set of footed woodies in the woods of your choice as either a gift or just to enjoy for yourself.

I will agree with that statement, and making a single foot only takes a couple minutes.  Here is a tutorial I did just a short time ago on making them.
