I figure that froggin could be a great way to get my 5yr old son some longbow huntin' experience (kinda like 23feetupandhappy's exerience with his boysfound in another post). It seems as though froggin' is pretty popular in the south, but I'm wondering...are there any PA guys that hunt 'em? If so, any suggestions on some good spots (preferably in the Lancaster area) to check out? Thanks in advance!

Not sure if it is in PA but some states it's illegal.  Check into the rules first, at least that way you can tell the Worden, you are just underwater stump shooting    ;)

Good luck  and careful, Its fun!     :readit:

I've looked into it. It's fully legal in PA. (July 1 - Oct. 31) Fishing license is required, bows can be used as well as gigs, and daily limit is 10 frogs. Only restrictions are the use of artificial lights and firearms (no biggie as far as I'm concerned). I can't wait to get the boy out there with his longbow! So, how bout it? Any PA froggin' guys out there?

Problem around here is that some of teh streams are stocked w/ trout.

I'd hate to be out shoot frogs along the edge and run amuck of some of the Waterway's patrolemen. Like all else, some good, some not.

I also ran into some areas around the big park lakes where you aren't allowed to shoot bows (like in bowfishing) The PPL park down on River Road along the Conestoga S of town of Conestoga is a prime example.

Farm ponds might be your best bet.
