Has anyone used the FMJ arrow for a longbow?

I shoot 400 FMJ camo out of a couple of longbows,I like the smooth slick surface of the outer aluminum, small diameter, tough and fly just great.

FerretWYO

Great arrows lots of weight small DIA. Not real tough as they can bend but they are a great great hunting arrow.

FMJ Dangerous game shafts for me    Using 250's out of 82# longbow - 350grns up front.

Manitoba Stickflinger

Use them almost exclusively...they just tune so easy and come in at the right weight that there is no reason to change. I use the 500's and still load the front with 250 gr. heads plus the regular insert. My LB really likes them!

Manitoba Stickflinger

Something interesting...

Tried my 500's with a 200 gr. point out of a #80+ longbow this spring......perfect darts!

You'd think they would be way weak but they tuned perfectly...wierd?

I'm shooting them out of my A&H ACS bow, which is a radical hybrid longbow. I am shooting the Dangerous Game version because I got them on accident. They come in at 630 grs so I think I may have preferred the normal for bows under 60#. Anyhow the shafts are great. Very narrow diameter, incredibly tight tolerances, and they fly beautifully. I prefer them to straight carbons tremendously and I am starting to like them more than straight aluminum. The only downside is the cost, but you have to pay for the best. I'm still undecided on the hidden inserts but I have had no problems with them.

i footed my 400 an 500 with alum shafts 1" so the tips can't curl back.with the insert inside an back a ways it makes them very tuff..the 400 with 75 brass insert at 29 inches is 400 grains with the vpa's it makes a 650 grain shaft..they fly very well..

Swinestalker

They are my favorite arrows, easy tuning and reasonably tough, especialy when footed.
Having done so much, with so little, for so long, I can now do anything with nothing.

Coiloil37

I'm shooting them out of all my bows, I've found them very tough. I found the tips mushroomed a little before I started footing them with a piece of aluminum shaft, since then I haven't been able to wreck one.

Chromebuck

The one arrow that seems to shoot out of all three LB's I own.  Not a veteran trad guy, but a noteworthy observation.  Have had a couple mushroom stump shooting, but have also dropped a bull moose with a 500.  Also a fan of the opposite design by Easton the A/C/C and think they are more durable with the aluminum on the interior.  Drawback to both is price.  ~CB
