"Last Chance Buck"

Woke up this morning, drug my feet outta bed
Rubbed the sleep from my eyes, put my cap on my head
Stamped on my boots and did a warm up dance
Last day of the season, won't get another chance

Quiver full of arrows, I grabbed my longbow
Headed out the door into the blinding snow
Ghosted across the field, head into the wind
Over the hill and up around the bend
In my mind, I'm hoping for a victory dance
But, it's the last day of the season, won't get another chance

Up a skinny tree, spend hours in my stand
You couldn't pry the bow from my cold stiff hand
Everythings quiet, then a crunching sound
Shift my body so,  I could look around
A four point buck in a broadside stance
It's the last day of the season, won't get another chance

Turns his head, I'm blinded from his view
Arrow to my cheek before I even knew
Let fly the shaft and I want to cry
Cold aching fingers caused it to sail high
Over his back, I watched in a trance
Last day of the season, won't get another chance
