Well I went out for my first turkey hunt. I didn't bring my bow, it's not arrived yet, but I had a chance to scout around for a while. After hiking through bush for a few hours I understand why not overbowing yourself is important. Sure I could pull a 50# bow at the range, but there is no way I could have got a shot off after hiking all day. Glad I decided to order lighter.

We didn't see any turkeys, we thought we heard one so we tried calling them in for a while, but no luck. We did have a crow follow us around and imitate our calls though, at least we made a friend  :)

I hope that we have better luck next time!

Good luck & keep us posted. I have seen a ton of Toms here in NY but every bird I have seen is stilled henned up. We have until the last day of May. Took my first trad gobbler on May 31 last year. Never to late until the season is over!

Good luck!  Turkeys are a blast, a bow adds another level of two to the difficulty!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
