Take your time ....and do the PT!!!You'll be back at it in no time
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I had torn elbow tendon and bone spur surgery two years ago. Make sure you tell the PT about shooting a bow and make sure you go to PT. I then moved to my gym to complete my therapy after the 12 weeks. I had it late May and was shooting a 30# target bow by mid July at Denton Hill. Now fully recovered and absolutely no pain at all.

Good! That's great. I think the advice to take baby steps is good. Better slow and steady. (I always have trouble with that advice, but I'm an expert in giving it! LOL)

Question: what was it like before you went to the doctor for the first time. Did you have doubts or was it a no-brainer?

I had elbow surgery the end of October. Cleaned up a bunch of crap and moved some nerves around...my whole arm was going numb and would stay that way. My rehab is going slow. I'm up to 30 pushups, it used to be easy to do 60 in a minute. I'm also up to 6 pull ups, goal is to get 20 by September.  I just started shooting my bow and accuracy just ain't there. I have been able to shoot about 25 shots before I get tired. Take it slow and good luck to you.

Its been a month since surgery, overall it feels pretty good, although certain movements dont feel so good.

I go back tothe Doc in the morning, and likely will be starting PT afterwards. Ive been in this stupid wrist immobilizer for 3 weeks, I really wold like to be done with it.

My new elk huntin MOAB will be here next week, to have a new bow and not be able to shoot it will certainly be torture. If I had any state secrets, I'd cough 'em up if only to be able to shoot it.

I couldnt say how many times since the weather has gotten nice Ive had that " time to shoot" feeling, only to have to supress it again.

I truly love spring stumpin and carp shootin.

None the less, barring any bad news from the Dr. shouldnt be too much longer.

OK, saw the Doc today. Over all its doing good, and despite my desires to get back behind the bow, he wants to proceed slowly. So.....PT for a month, go back and see him again. Then if its progressing, he said some more intensive PT then after that I can try shooting. THat puts me into July, which I was not happy about, but we'lls ee how it feels after a month of PT.

Having that new bow sitting around taunting me is gonna be tough, but thats the way its gonna go I guess.
