Guys,

I need some ideas from the gurus on this sight.  I am shooting a Bear takedown, A-mag riser with Rose Oak limbs.  59# at 31" and I draw 31".  Shafts are Traditional only 300s, cut to 32" with aluminum inserts and 175 grain points.  They bareshaft nock left. I have tried 200 gr. and 125 gr. and all show nock left.  I have tried 50 gr. brass inserts, still nock left.  Could these shafts be too weak and if so what shaft would be stiffer than 300's?  I keep thinking maybe they are stiff and slapping the shelf, but with 250 gr. up from Stu's calculator show weak.

I don't really think this bow and set-up is that unusual so I need some advice.  Thanks in advance!

I would almost guarentee that your shafts are way too stiff.

I too draw 31" & all my bows are in the 63-66# range at my draw.
I shoot 340 spine shafts, 32" long wth 100gn inserts & 200-300gn points. Any stiffer/shorter or much less point weight & they bare shaft too stiff.

I would say that my arrow setup should be nearly perfect for you too.

Ok, that is what I also am now starting to think.  I will get some 340's to try.  Thanks!

Bswear,
I draw 31" as well and I am not convinced your shafts are stiff.  My recurves at 60-65# will tune with 300-340 shafts at 32-32.5" with between 145-225 gr up front.  If I front load them to try to hit the higher FOC they don't fly well for me at all.

I shoot a 53# at 31 r/d longbow - center cut and a 60 @ 31 recurve with about 1/8 before center and I shoot Trad only 300's w/ stock inserts and 200 on the front. Works good for my setup.

This is based on Stu's calculator. I have some bare shafts I'll check 'em again now that I'm shooting a little more consistently.
