stalkable snake boots

I'm not sure that stalkable is a word, but I've been reading Asbell's stalking and still hunting book and have always found walking quietly in snake boots to be a problem and now I'm certain of it. I'm not worried about stalking when it's really cold here in Texas, but for the the other 363 days of the year (particularly during the summer) I like the reassurance of snake boots when going through high grass and stalking pigs. Anyone have suggestions for a snake boot with a soft sole? Other suggestions for solving this problem would be appreciated.

Javi, they look nice. How are the soles on them? Are they soft enough to allow for some flexibility?

They have a hiking/hunting sole on them.. I have a set of regular Pronghorns with a 8" top as well that I use in climbing/hunting Colorado and shooting 3-D with the same sole.. I could be wrong but I think they're Vibram..

Are the pronghorns snake proof? I didn't think mine were but maybe I am wrong or do they make a snake proof model of them?

might want to check out the Turtle skins snake gaiters. I'm getting a pair so any boots will be snake boots

They do, get the GTX they're water proof too.. I got my last pair at Cabelas...

Javi, how's the sole on the gtxr for stalking?
The sole looks like it has deep lugs, which would be good for mud traction, but unnecessary in sand.

Russell Moccasin Co. used to make a snake boot that was pretty stealthy. I'm not sure if they still offer it.

The pair I saw had the Vibram Gumlite sole, and from my experience with Gumlites, they are very flexible and stealthy.

Russels are a little pricey, but they are custom sized to your feet.

Russell Moccasin are the ones you want. They have a huge diversity of boots that can be made with or without snake-proof leather, with whatever sole you need, at whatever height you want. I have several pairs of Russells and will not use anything else. Neither will you once you get some.

Just bear in mind it takes a while to get your boots ordered and sized from Russell, but it's a worthwhile wait.

This is great info guys. I'm gonna be checking these all out this weekend. Anyone have concerns about gaiters sufficiently covering your foot? How concerned would you be about the bottom of your foot if you were to step down on one

The ones Dryfired posted are identical to the pair I fondled.

Be aware, they lack support so steep terrain is rough on your feet with these types of boots.

They are also resolable. At one time I made shoe repairs, and the cost of Gumlite replacement was $45.00, including the cost of the soles.

I have a pair of 9.5 Danner Pronghorn GTXs and I wore them on one trip, last week. I don't like the fit. My skinny ankles and narrow feet just don't like these boots. They are in perfect condition, and I have the box they came in from Mack's Pairie Wings. If you are interested give me a shout before I put em in the classifieds.

Tex81, Heat Tex style is brutal! Hunted often w/plastic wrap arounds over whatever including running shoes. Wear them under your pant legs for cooler & quieter. Stepped dead center of one rattler & shorthaired another. Legs OK.., skivies not so much.

They have worked for me all over Texas in everything from rock, red sand and S. Texas brush.. Spot & Stalk is how I hunt unless I'm told not to by the landowner..
