I cannot figure this dang thing out.

Can some punch the numbers on my arrows and bow.

Weight 9.2 gr.in

Spine 0.400"

O.D. 0.302"

I.D. 0.246"

Length 32"

Draw Weight 75-95

Weight 10.2 gr.in

Spine 0.340"

O.D. 0.310"

I.D. 0.246"

Length 32"

3x5" feathers

My bow is a r/d long bow from Maddog archery.
Midsized long bow.

53#/29"
Center Cut

I think that is all the information needed. I'm trying to calculate how much weight I am going to need up front and if I can cut some off or should I just leave them.

It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance I spent 30 min. plus trying to figure this thing out.
If it is easy where is the fun. That is why I use a stick and string. The only sight I need is with my eyes.

rastaman

What kind of string are you using (how many strands, fastflight or dacron)?

Using the 340 shaft cut to 31 inches with a 150 grain point (and the 100gr insert) will put you close according to the calculator.  On that shaft, start cutting a little at a time from 32 inches down testing along the way..i'm not familiar with those shafts..i know they are gold tips (i think).

And on the 400 shaft cut to 30 inches with a 125 grain point (and the 100gr insert) will put you close according to the calculator.  Again, i wouldn't cut it that short initially..trim a little at a time testing along the way.  i used the generic carbon shaft on the calculator for both of these..
Hope this helps some...

I'm pretty sure that the 75/95 are .300 spine. Just use the gt trad arrow setting on the calc. Not enough differance between the trads and the nugents. Mike's bows are cut 1/8" before center. Hope this helps

Thank you very much guys. I will take the tuning slow.

metsastaja

based on your info and the +1/8 center cut here is what i got. I used the Gold tip 5575..since the Nug arrows are goldtip.

With the 7595 you would almost need to keep arrow at 32bop use a 175 BH and 100g insert. Your arrow weight would end up at about 577

Just curious Metsastaja, why did you put yes on the footing? The 100 grn insert isn't considered a footing I don't think.

Also curiouis Metsastaja, why did you use .600 for the strike plate thickness.  That is over 9/16ths thick.
I have had trouble with this calculator too. Perhaps this is what I am doing wrong.

The arrow is 5575. Not 7595, So I'm guessing it is ok to cut it down some. I think I will have to only take it down at a little at a time but will still be ok.

Any insert in excess of .9" is inputed as a footing.  You enter the length as the actual length over .9".  If you haven't read the instructions fully, I suggest you do so, they are very detailed.

metsastaja

I was in a bit of a hurry and apologize. Here is the correct entries

Notice I changed the center cut to 3/16: 2/16 for the center cut of bow plus 1/16 for plate thickness. The strike plate thickness only has an impact on specific bows in the database.  For generics you should enter center cut + plate thickness in the box.

I readily admit I am not familiar with the calculator but my set-up is only a pound or two heavier than yours and I found 5575's spine stiff enough that trying a 3555 might not be a bad idea.

trick00

I get the same results as metsastaja IF your draw length is 28" and strike plate thickness is 1/16". I may have missed it but I did not see your draw length anywhere. Also the strike plate thickness is ignored when generic is chosen as bow type.
