Anyone ever try a 600 out of a 45lb @ 28" recurve w/riser cut 5/16 past center. I have always shot a 500 but just curious to see if anyone has tried the 600. If so, what length and head weight did you use?

According to Stu's calculator, you can get right on the money for that specific bow by using a 600 Spine Arrow, 30" BOP, 175 grain point weight, 16 gr. insert (standard aluminum insert), and 3 x 4" feathers.

That set up gives you a dynamic spine of 37.9.

According to the calculator the bow has a dynamic spine req. of 37.1.
62" Craig Warren Black Timber 3PC T/D Recurve: 48lb @ 28".

Btw: that set up would give you 9.3 GPP and a total arrow weight of 418.

Also, if you aren't familiar with Stu's caluclator, within 2 lbs. is considered good, so at only .8 difference that's darn close to perfect for ya.

Now then, get your weapons ~ your quiver and bow ~ and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27.3

Stu's calc doesn't have an option for 5/16 cut past center. My guess is that the 600 would be weak.

If the shelf is 5/16" past center then I would assume that the riser is metal.

Stu's calc does have a 5/16 b4 center. I doubt seriously that a trad bow is cut that much past center.?? I shoot a HILL that's 5/16 b4 center and shoot 600 spine shafts @ 45#. Work good too.

You are right Friend, it has a metal riser. It is a Quinn Stallion and according to the specs it is cut 5/16 past center. I never really checked to make sure but I would assume it is.
Forgot about checking Stu's calculator.
Thanks for the quick responses.

I shoot 600s out of a 40# bow.  125 gr heads with 75 gr inserts. 30" arrows.  Exactly what the bowyer recommended, and he was right..they fly well.

I shoot a 600 out of 44 @28 with 175 up front on a 29" arrow and they shoot like darts.  Nothing but a bullet hole in the paper.

I shoot 600 Beman MFX out of my 42 @ 26" and they work great. 28", 75gr bras insert stock, 3x4" RW helical, 125gr 17/64 tip, 448gr total weight, 10.67 gr per lb and 17.8% FOC. Only carbons I use. Plus they are versitile arrows when going from bow to bow. 15.7% FOC with 100 gr tip.

I also am trying Beeman MFX 600 out of a Hummingbird 60in 45#@28 and 50 gr. insert and 100 gr pt. Seems to shoot well so far. Thought it would be too weak spined. Will see how it does over time. Roy
Maybe it is time to shoot what I have on the rack

I shoot .600 out of a 50 lb at 29 with 285 grains up front.  Yours cut 5/16 PAST won't shoot 'em in my opinion.  Mine shoot bullet holes from 17 feet and further.  Never would have guessed it.

I'm not putting up with this guys shit and dogging me.

I shoot 600's from bows 40 lbs. up to 55 lbs. I notice most people shoot more spine from bows of the same weight but perfect paper tears & good BH flight doesn't lie.

Sometimes you just have to go with what works.

I am wanting to try the MFX as well. Im shooting 42 to 44LBS at 27" I like 175 to 200 grains up front.  What do I need the 600 or the 500?

owlbait

Boy, I sure hope it works. It is what I'm getting ready to try. Full length Axis 600, 75gr insert 125 grain tips, 3 5" helical feathers. Wish me luck. 66" 45#@28, my draw is close to 29".
