Aloha, forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong forum. I'm returning to archery, hope to be ready to bowhunt traditionally when I PCS to VA in the Fall. And I hope to be able to take my 16 yo son out for his first hunt ever with anything at the same time. Here's the problem, I'm a righty, and he's a lefty, or at least he's left eye dominant.

I picked up a Samick Sage RH 45# for myself, and talking with my local shop, my son may be able to practice with it for a little bit, but if he's interested at all, the sooner we get him a lefty bow the better. My thought was to get an inexpensive glass ambi longbow 60" to start to see how he likes it. He's about 6' and 30" draw. Would it be better just to go ahead and bite the bullet and get him his own LH tradbow?

Welcome to the site.  Now for your question.

He's 16.  Ask him if there is any interest.  He's old enough to know weather or not it is going to be his thing.  If he is interested, find someone on the island who has a lefty, and go give it a try.  There has got to be someone with a left handed longbow/recurve on the island.  I found a few (right albeit) just in conversation while we were there last April.

It is never to late to get started.

Check out Mike at Maddog archery in the sponsor banner up top. He does a mutt longbow ($225.00)at a good price that would work well for a teen.

Oh, he's interested all right! Which leads me to want to just set him up now if I can find a nice lefty for a fair price.
