Correct way to trim a tab

I've been shooting forever with a glove and have tried tabs on a few occasions without much success.  I'd prefer to use tabs, but have never been comfortable.  I know you are supposed to trim them to fit you fingers/hand.  Can anyone post pics with an explanation on how to determine where the tab should be trimmed to?  Thank you...Mike

How I trim mine & for my daughter is to shoot them a few ends to get a beginning crease in it where it feels right on your hand, then I'll get a marker & grip the string with the tab on & mark just beyond my finger tips.

Cut the excess off from the area marked then shoot some more.
I'll trim a little here & there on the tab to finish it because I like mine where I have just a little over wrap on the string but not much to catch the string on some of my better releases   :rolleyes:  but it still does the job of protecting my fingers.

I use scissors and trim a little at a time until I'm satisfied. It seems to help to get rid of the excess material, leaving just enough to protect your fingers and give a smooth release.

That is good advice. I was wondering the best way to do that myself.

As stated above, trim a little at a time, and keep in mind the tab covers more of your fingers when they are curled than when straight.

Agree with above, shortening the tab will also quiet the flap noise that can occur on release if its to long.

When I trim mine I grab the string and look to see how much is past my fingers. Then trim a little and check again by grabing the string to see how much more to cut off or leave alone. I use scissors as they work a lot better then a knife (which can be used).

Thanks guys, great advice.  I'll have to pick up another tab in the near future and give it a try.  What BWD alluded to (covering more of your curled fingers) is what was confusing and annoying me.  Thanks again...Mike
