I've been shooting the damascus glove and I have really liked it because I feel like I can feel the string well.  The problem is the leather finger tips seem to wear out quickly.  I've heard great things about the american leather gloves.  If I understand right the big shot has the nylon and the full shot has the leather tips, is this right?  Anybody use them both and have opinions they'd like to share?  I shot the nylon tips a few times and it seemed stiff and difficult to get a good hook but I might just need to shoot it longer.

They both have the nylon tips. You won't be able to feel the string with those like you can with the damascus. If you want a longer wearing glove but want to feel the string, I recommend the Superglove from 3rivers. All of the American Leathers gloves are top notch and worth a try to see if they fit you or not. The nicest thing is that you can get it custom made to your hand which makes a world of difference IMHO.

I shoot an American Full Shot glove with nylon stalls (overlays on the tips).   According to the latest 3 Rivers catalog, the stalls on the Big Shot and Full Shot gloves are both nylon.   A few months ago, Big Jim (Sponsor here) had a special / limited edition of the Big Shot (I think...) with leather stalls.   I switched from a tab and I adapted to shoot the Full Shot... Everyones mileage varies though... Good Luck!

Spanky,

Good to know the full shot doesn't have the leathe tips, it looked like it from their website.  I'll check out the superglove.  Thanks

Spanky is correct.......they both have the nylon tips and like he says, you won't have the "feel" that you have with a damascus glove. I switched last year to the Full Shot glove and haven't looked back. I have probably shot several thousand arrows with this glove and it is the best glove for arthritic fingers that I have ever found.

They are kinda pricey, but well made and there are still plenty of shots left in this one. I doubt that I will ever purchase another brand of glove..........it's that "good".

i use a big shot made of buff.i will not shoot anything else unless they quit making them.i like to feel the string too,but you get used to this glove quick.it is a great glove, steve

So you feel like you just adjust to not feeling the string as well?  Have you noticed cost to your shooting?

Same here.

I've used all the gloves mentioned in this thread so far and always find myself going back to what works for me... the SuperGlove. Maybe you'll luck out and someone in your area that shoots a Big-Shot of Full-Shot would be willing to let you try them out for a bit. Good luck on finding what works for you... and hopefully it won't break your bank in the process.   :D

I must say the big shot takes some getting use to, but once you get it broke in thier excellant. I could only see improvement in my shot. Alot smoother coming off the glove. I love mine, wouldnt' shoot anything else! Jason

Texasrecurve81,
You can feel pressure, but the nylon does not allow the string to go into your finger crease.   I just got done shooting a little bit ago... I'm currently working on pulling more with my middle finger so I would "extend" my pull with this finger today at full draw.   I felt the normal pressure in all the right places  but like stated before, the string will not "sink" into your finger crease.

i think my shooting got a little better with this glove.i was using a neet finger stall glove.it wore out quick and hurt my fingers after alot of shooting.this might not be the best glove out there, but i like it alot.it seems like it will last forever.hope this helps, steve

TexasStick81

I appreciate all the feedback.  Does it seem like you can flex your fingers at each joint or is the nylon so stiff that the last joint doesn't flex well?

i can flex my joints.at first it is a little stiff, but then it breaks in nicely.i can also feel my string, just not as much as my flimsy neet finger stalls.i can tell you that my fingers don't hurt anymore after long shooting sessions.this glove is a pleasure to use, steve

i forgot to add that i shoot bows from 50 pounds up to 59 pounds.works great for all of them, steve

I tried the american leather gloves and even though they are built nice I sold mine only because i couldn't really feel the string like I wanted, I went back to the normal deer skin glove which to me was "feeling the string wise" in between a damascus & AL.

may of been a break-in thing I'm not sure.

I have the American Leather Buffalo it is a great glove. I can feel the string very well but I shoot 55-60# bows. It does take a little break in period. I was shooting well at the end of my first session with the glove. I shoot over 20 arrows on a lite day and 100+ arrows on a regular day. I feel the string better with my tab but I really like the Buffalo glove.

I've shot the Amer big shot extensively plus others. They are a great glove but I have another I like better for a number of reasons. The stick Tight (without the nylon stalls) that they sell on the black widow site.

1. You can feel the string better yet your get great protection (I'm shoot 50-60lbs bows)
2. It has longer finger stalls
3. It stays on your fingers better
4. They cost only $16.00
