PSE Coyote (was), slight radius to shelf and dehorn. Hoyt grip fitted, repainted, added proto rest.

Nasty day, not very good pics, sorry.

Twisted it up to better brace (factory spec is low). Gained 5# but draws OK, shoots fine with GT 55/75 bare shaft w 125 gr points and 50gr added to insert (29.5" long). Hits 55# at 28".

That thing definitley looks a lot better, let us know how she shoots. I have a martin jaguar that would be a good candidate for a project like this. What did you use to paint the riser and limbs. Looks good!

I stripped the old camo off the riser with Gunscrubber. Then water rinsed, and dried. Primer went well, Krylon upper end, but the color coat didn't go worth a hoot (must have bought a dud spray bomb).

So I stripped it, beadblasted it, then went with a clear over the blue/white alloy. Initial color scheme was black/grey camo. Hated it. So went over that (using the clear that stayed well as my primer) with Krylon black and then shot clear again.

Dunno how well it'll stick, but it looks OK (riser).

Limbs were lightly sanded to remove old camo topography (as they stenciled it). I just sprayed them with the black grey, changed my mind and went black/tan/brown stripe. Cheap and easy.

Clear puts a slight gloss to riser (is matte clear though). The limbs are flat (no clear).

I use the same camo on the limbs of my TradTech Pinnacle 2 that was reworked (riser slimmed). I only did the front of those limbs, left the sides and back as is. Looks better that way IMHO.
Riser refinished to like new, only in spots reworked- matched great.............using Outers Gunslick stock finish. Dunno if it's current product or something old, just had it laying around the shop I frequent.

The Coyote got the crude but effective camo all over the limbs.

Used to do intricate stencil camo patterns, and found that while they looked good, they really didn't camo as well as the other stuff, took way longer, and when they got a little wear, sucked to put back as new.

Light buff with sandpaper and fog it, good to go.

The Hoyt grip was not screwed on. I used garage door goop ala Mathews compound grip suggestion. The "screws" in the grip are actually Chicago screw female pcs glued in to cover the insets. No need to D&T corresponding spots on the riser.

Grip removal down the road would require a hair dryer. I aint changing it. If I want a different grip, I'll buy another bow.

Next project is a Type O Negative themed bow, either redo a Samick Phantom or a classic that's been drilled or has some slight cosmetic issues.

Maybe make one from a K mag.

I thought about doing an ILF machined riser, still have access to the processing, but am too busy with work and kids to get much of anything else done. Missed the ATA.

Oh yeah, the crappy "high hat" looking factory limb bolts (1/4-20 UNC) were tossed in the junk bin. I ran regular 1/4- 20 cap screws and pressed on Shear Loc Delrin 1" diameter caps.

Looks way better IMHO.

You can get them from your local industrial fastener supply places, aren't expensive, around .36 each, but with shipping they end up close to .80 each if ordering a dozen.

Admins can edit out the brand name.

Local hardware places don't carry them (I'm talking decent hardware places, not big box stores). Nobody has them, or even knew what they were.

I used them at work all the time on fixtures due to UAW regs      

For those looking for stuff for projects I just passed along the needed info (actual manufacturer name) since there are other press on caps that are not similar, that pop up on most web searches.

I did not name the ordering places, simply stated that most industrial supply places can get them. Newsflash- my local national retailer guys had no idea what caps I was talking about, even by specific name.

Hence the details put forth in my prev post.

Edit/add:

Hmmm, called out brand names in prior post too, but that was in response to a question- "what did I use?"

The solvent is (from what I hear) to be a no go in 2011, or at least a change in formula, as it has Trichloroethylene in it. Great degreaser, and CNS/Liver killer  

The paint was called out by brand due to prev paint problems (where other brand was not mentioned). I told of what worked, or seems to have worked as of this time.

Just some details that could make a difference in project quality.
