First off a manikin would cost a fortune.Get an old camo jumpsuit (the old thin type) and fill it with bubble wrap.And an old cheap camo (net) mask with bubble wrap as well for a head. This may deter the tree stand thief as well. Problem is you will need a way to cover it up when you are in the blind/stand.

I too came to the conclusion years ago that scent was the big problem. I'm not surre that it helps, but I place an old pair of tennies and a sweaty t shirt in my blinds.

Roger Raglin first used that trick in one of his video's like 15 or more years ago . He would mount a treestand like 10ft off the ground in the tree that he wanted to hunt later in . Before the season he was hunting he would staple a hat , and shirt and place a pair of boots on the stand . So the deer would get used to the dummy and then when it was time he would replace the dummy and have a better chance since the deer were used to seeing that silouettte in the tree .

I have a good friend that was an enthusiastic, successful bear hunter (before the anti's got spring beat hunting stopped in Colo).  He hung his stand over the bait and hung a set of coveralls above the stand.  They were the shape of a man and even moved in the wind. He swore that it helped..

That really is a good idea.
Where I hunt deer there aren't good stand trees so I have to walk around.
