when doing a 4 fletch, with the use of a locator nock do you line the locator up with one of your feathers or in between two feathers? thankyou for your help.

Grey Taylor

Interesting question.
My jig does 60/120 degree four fletch. On a wood shaft I glue the nock on so the grain is properly oriented and the indicator is under my thumb as I hold the arrow. I put the indicator on the jig in the position for the first feather.

Hope that made sense.

Tie two birds together; though they have four wings, they can not fly.

I use Mercury nocks with a locator tab on them. I've thought of grinding off the tab. Really don't need it with 4 fletch. Really doesn't matter where the tab is lined up. So far I just line up the tab in the jig like I would for 3 fletch and start fletching.
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Fletcher

With 90x90 and my Bitz jigs, they fletch up with the index between the fletching so that when on the string they look like an "X", not a "+".  Same way with 75-105; I like the index on the 105 degree side.  With the JoJan jig, they come out more like the +.  Just the nature of the way the JJ is built and one of the reasons I don't use it anymore.

Install the nocks just like you would for any other fletch style, pointers on the top going away from the shooter.

These guys pretty well nailed it.The real advantage of 4 fletch,{of which i shoot} to me is that you dont have to look/or feel to nock an arrow.I have never been able to see any difference in flight. In testing 5"-3 fletched to 4"-4 fletch, myself and another guy with several bows only got about one fps.,difference between the two ways.I do like 4 fletch, being able to just stuff an arrow on and shoot and like the way it looks. If you do them like Fletcher says like an X youll get good flight.Good Luck.

Hi Rick,

What are the "pointers" and how do you tell they're going away from the shooter?

Thank you

I think he means the grain run-outs (the "V"s showing on the shaft).

My jojan multi-fletcher came with 4X90 indexers but you can use the three fletch indexer to make 4 fletch also.

Put Your arrow in like normal skip the cock feather and fletch both hen feathers like normal. Then take the arrow and flip it 180 degrees in the indexer and fletch two more hen feathers.

I don't know if it is exactly 75X105 but it's close. You can also get 75X105 indexers from Jojan.

thanks for the help you guysare the best
