Does anyone know how much shorter the string needs to be than the actual bow length?

I'm not a longbow guy and a friend of mine needs this info.  Any help is appreciated, thanks, Bill

Thanks, Bjorn.  Hey, Are the Black Mountain Bowmen still there near San Jose/Los Gatos?  I was a member there in the late 60's.
