I'd like to share a mornings hunt with you on Thursday,Nov.11. I'm hunting in a saddle between 2 big hollows with a large ridge running between them. It started out slow but around 8:30 here came 2 does out of 1 hollow. Probably 5 minutes later I heard a grunt and saw a small 4-pt. coming along the edge of the ridge. Something spooked him and he ran back where he came from. I'm thinking a bigger buck was the culprit because the wind was in my favor. Next thing I hear 1 running across an old logging road and I look and see it is a nice buck going down into the opposite hollow. He goes on and 10 minutes later I hear crashing out the ridge to my right. Grabbing my bow I look up and see a large bodied buck chasing a doe full tilt right at me. They ran right under me to the logging road and on up into the brush. Just 2 minutes later here they came back and the 8-pt. stopped right under me . As I was coming to full draw he took off again after the doe. Things quieted down for a little while and here came a spike buck and checked a scrape 20 yards from me. He then came right by me at 5 yards and I passed on him. After a while here came a doe out on the logging road followed by a bruiser 10 pt. and a real nice 8 pt. In the meantime a smaller buck appeared out in front of me where I saw the first buck. The doe started across a little draw towards me with the big buck in tow. 30 yards from me she cut up into a little brushy patch in front of me. The big 1 followed with the 8 pt. following along . In the meantime another 6 pt. came out and started skirting them and walked right past me. The doe then turned and ran down past me, too far for a shot with the big buck chasing her. They went back to the logging road and up over the hill and on out the ridge. All this finally ended around 12:00. I stayed in stand another hour but nothing else. Drat I had to go back to work but will be off again Tuesday for a week. Guess where I'll be. I'm going to move my stand over to the logging road. Wish me luck on the big 10 pt. I have also seen 2 other big bucks in there earlier.

What a great day in the woods!! Good Luck hitman!!  I'm missing the best time to be in the woods.  I won't make it back home to Pocahontas to hunt until Thanksgiving and I only have 3 days then so I gotta make them count.

Hope to see pics of you with the 10pt on here next week!
Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)

Too much excitement. Hope you can et some sleep.

That kind of experience can make a whole season and will be reminisced over and over for years to come.

I wish the best when you hit the field again.
