Tree Seat

I have a Torges seat that I made that is slick, but I've been looking at this one  http://www.hunterseat.com/  no rope to go around the tree, looks fast and easy!

how far are the holes on the seat from the tree end?

Mine are 9-10", I checked 2 seats and that's what I have. But you can fool around and see what works for you. But that's a starting point!

In a couple words- ITS AWESOME!

Nothing in the way of your bow limb....easy as pie to use, no set up no fuss, no muss...just slip it off yoru shoulder and lean it against a tree....need to move? Real easy, real quiet.

Do you think it would be an aggravation if one was mainly still hunting but just wanted to have a good seat handy if that special spot was just stumbled upon? I really like the way the Niff-T-Seat looks and the ease of carry as it snaps onto your belt. The HunterSeat looks great but the length of it making it sort of not compact would probably end up annoying me but I could be wrong.

I have one.. Even padded it with some high density foam that was used to ship my laptop in for repairs... covered in some max 4 cloth and a staple gun.... It works great for short hunts  (early bow season evening hunts 45-1.5 hrs max!!!)  ..... But I shift about after 45 minutes and that's not god at eye level!!!

I bought the same seat online and used a better shoulder strap system off an old climber... cats meow for ground hunting!!! But as said earlier set it so you can stand up easily....not too low!!! Had a nice doe bust me yesterday for just that reason!!!

Being comfortable makes for a better hunt.. If not (if you're like me..) you fidget!!! ANd being still   (I take lil fighter naps..like cat naps if you will)  and find that when I am in that state, I do better, especially in the oak bottoms where you can here 'em before you see em!!!

In my old age I need a really comfortable tree seat. I use a Summit tree seat which is like sitting in an arm chair. It's little more to carry around but the best when you get set up.

I have a bunch of big loc-ons put up where I hunt and sometimes will remove the small flip-up seat from the loc-on and strap my Summit on for long sits where I need the comfort. You need a stand with a 30" long base to use the Summit or your feet will be hanging out in space because the tree seat holds you away from the tree a little.

That's the advantage of the Torge's style tree-seat.  It's only 12" x 14" or so and you can use the tree rope as a sling to carry it over your shoulder.  I sit for hours and then sling it and still-hunt.

I added some padding to mine as my butt is getting bonier with age.

The days I am on the ground I use a Torges seat.  A pair of those stadium foam seat pads make it plenty comfy for my 2hr sits.  

Wish I could find decent rope that wasn't white, though.  From this thread, it looks like I'm not the only one with that problem.

I got camo rope at Home Depot, it's 7/16 or 1/2 in dia. and kind'a soft so it's not noisy.It wasn't to pricey, enough for 3-4 seats 3 seats and a drag rope...lol!

Hey Stumpkiller, I used your design and it works great. The 3 holes clinching the rope is clever and simple. It took longer getting my tools out and finding the materials laying around than the actual build of the seat. And 14"x12" is just right for my rear. Once I got the rope length right it stayed put. I spooked a young buck and then a doe and missed another squirrel but I was comfortable doing it! Still gotta paint it and put a protective edge on the back and some padding and maybe then I'll put a picture up(along with hopefully my first longbow kill). Thanks again, I love this place! Phil
