First let me say I have been shooting bows for almost 36 yrs. The question I have is this I am 6'2" and weigh 265# and I shoot short bows better than longer bows. By short I mean 56"-62". I can shoot 64" bows pretty well, but the longer I go in length the more I struggle. Can someone explain this to me? I have always heard longer bows were easier to shoot. I can shoot shorter than the mentioned lengths but these are the ones I will most often shoot.   :coffee:

What's your draw length?  Your height, wt, and age does not have much to do with your bow length.

Hunter, I have the flip side. I recently bought a 62" R/D bow and while I shoot it good I feel somewhat uncomfortable with it. My other lb's are both 66" and they feel like an extension of me. I ahve been shooting the 62 exclusively lately and find that I'm starting to become acclimated with it. Hope that's all it takes is time.  :archer:

Could be the grips on the different bows.
Maybe, a longer bow with the same grip as the shorter bow would be your "sweetheart"?

We're all different. Celebrate you can shoot a small bow and go with it!

Familiarity & preference. If you want to shoot longer, you'll find a way. Relax & fun it. Betting it ain't the bow's fault.

I received my new to me Thunderstick mag 58" 54#@28" yesterday and shot her today. I also had my draw checked or should I say quad checked today. 28.5" I drew 29" on first draw but I was upright and arms straight, this is not my posture when I shoot. I then drew the bow, with my bow arm slight bend and a little bend at the waist. Three pulls all three 28.5" Anyway the grip may be part of the reason I shoot it so well as mentioned above. The grip is a great fit for me and I think I also realized the shortness of the bow gives me a quicker on target look and just feels good. Either way I am really happy with the shorter bow.

The shorter ones for me as well. 50" Black Mountain Sheep Eater. 52" k mag. Are my two main bows. With practice you can shoot anything. Not that it matters but I'm a bigger guy too. True 29" draw. Love the short bows out of stands and in the thicker brush.
