My first trad kill was a BB too.  That was many years and many deer ago.  Good luck with the rest of those acorns.

Congratulations, Blaino!  I'm hoping for my first trad deer this year, too and I will shoot the first legal deer I get an opportunity on.  We had an early doe season in my part of PA and on the opener, I saw four does but they were beyond my range (35 yards - I'm only good to 20).  A few days later I had one pass by me broadside at 8 yards... only problem, it was a buck.  Now the regular (buck & doe) archery season is on!  Again... congrats!

Congratulations,

My first Trad deer was also a button buck many moons ago. Still remember it like it was yesterday and you will too.

Way cool! As for forgetting more than you'll ever know...
You are way younger than I was when I took my first deer with a bow. Could be that soon I will be asking YOU questions, especially after the dementia sets in.    :D

What you have gathered is sweet meat for the body and the soul, and that deer will live forever in your heart. I rejoice with you in the magic that this moment holds.

Don't be embarrassed, I've shot elk, but never shot a deer with my bow- they're too smart for me.

Good going, that will be finger lickin' good.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
