Hey all,

Any feedback on this bow/bowyer.  they have one locally, for sale.  It is a pretty slick looking unit but have never heard from them till today

Oh squeaky treestand, how I hate thee!

wahoo

shot the long bows. thought they were great shooters.Bowyer was also a real nice guy . Bought a bunch of youth bows from him years ago. Still have em and shoot great

I have a Saxon American that is a fine shooting bow and I really like the shallow grip as it shoots like most my hybrid longbows. As far as the bowyer all I can say is good luck, I tried by phone and email from the website about a year ago for some info on mine but did not get a response. Don't know if he is still in business or not. As far as the bow if it's anything like mine you would not be disappointed if you bought it.

I've owned a lot of longbows. Two stand out above the othere in my mind. Saxon American and Sentman Moosejaw. The Saxon was light and fast ,. Just a really plain looking bot really sweet shooting bow. It was a real pleasure to hunt with and to shoot.

Gerardo

I really liked my Saxon longbow and dont know why I sold it , they are great bows

I own a Saxon Hawk recurve that is just an outstanding bow in every way.

Pete Arthur

I owned a Saxon one piece recurve. I didn't care for it, but that's just my opinion. If you can, shoot it first.

Afraid a snake

I also had a Saxon Hawk recurve. If it would have been 10 lbs. lighter I would still have it.The Hawk was a great bow,I killed my first elk with it.

royking

there a very simple well made bow.
light in hand .

Blackhawk

The Saxon bows were made by Randy Dehnel. I have owned 3 or 4 of his Saxon American longbows and one of his Hawk recurves.  Overall, I thought they were excellent performers, shooting plenty fast and being very smooth.  I also thought he did an excellent job on his finish.

The last I heard of him was that he was in Idaho, but it seems he is not making bows any longer from what I know.

I have Saxon Hawk longbow made by Randy. Shoots great and Absolutely Beautiful.

I've had a couple of Saxon American longbows, they were well made bows and solid shooters.Wouldn't mind getting a Saxon Hawk, shot a few at shows and are beautiful bows.

I have a Saxon Selkirk Recurve that I just put an SBD 8 strand D10 string on.It is probably the hardest shooting bow I own.Outstanding in every way.
Quote from Howard Hill.( Whenever he taught someone to shoot) "Son make up your mind right now if you want to target shoot or hunt as theres a world of differance between the two"

Also had a Saxon American longbow. Very basic functional bow. I could have saved myself alot of cash over the years if I would have kept it because it was just as good as many of the others I have owned. As I look back was also one of my favorites. I do like my Hills, but I'd wouldn't mind having the American again, "just because".

I spoke to Randy last year, he moved back to Washington to take care of his parents. He told me that he was still going to build bows.

I had one of Randy's Saxon American longbows. Shot like a dream. They have always been fairly priced. Believe I sold mine for $250 to someone on TG in 2005. Not the fastest or the prettiest but a good solid performer.

I have a Saxon Hawk longbow, osage and red elm with a padouk riser with some inlays.  Beautiful bow and a great shooter.  Had it since 1996 and it's as good now as it was when I got it.  I haven't contacted Randy since I got the bow, but he walked me through the custom process and was very helpful.

I have six (6) Saxon Longbows to include; 1 Shrike 55# @ 28" (58" long, reflex/deflex and forward set handle like a Shrew), 1 American 50# @ 28" and 2 American's 55# @ 28" (the Americans are all 64" long and reflex/deflex design)and 2 Elite's 58# @ 28" and 60# @ 28" (both 68" long and old Hill style) All of them shoot very well. I have talked to Randy recently and he is still in Idaho. Randy is a great guy and a Master Bowyer all of his bows are well made and shoot great. There are a lot of great Bowyers out there, but Randy will always be thought of as one of the best and a great guy to deal with. I have bought his bows for years and they are getting harder to find as time goes on. If you can find one of his bows, "Buy it" and you will not be disappointed, they are beautifully made, tough as nails and sit well in the hand.
