I dunno I have been using smokey's scent for the first time this year.. I did it by the book and haven't had much success. I had numerous year around scraps that are hit and didn't get much action with the pre-orbital and interdigital scents.. Not dishing smokey scents at all.. I just thought I would have more action preseason. I am sure the stuff works great pre rut.. Any recommendations?

Brother Gene has been working on a brand new technique using Smokeys lures that's been bringing unbelieveable results. He recently wrote Part one of a two part article that is supposed to be published in an upcoming Bowhunter Magazine soon. This is NOT a paid endorsement, just one bowhunter helping out others. I predict Smokey will soon be selling a pile of scents and deserves credit for his excellent work. BW

Can't wait to hear what uncle gene has to say!

Yeah Smokey just lives a few miles down the road from me. I always push his products because they
work. The preorbital is an incredible lure. I have been using the same bottle for three years.
Yeah its $20 but look how long it lasts unless you are running 20 or 30 cameras a bottle will last you many seasons.

Ummmmm, curious - have lived in Ohio most of my life but haven't a clue what that statement means???

No way. He cuts them all out and processes the glands. I absolutely know that for a fact. He has a passel of processors locally that he has trained on how to take out the glands and how to preserve them. Nothing artifical about that.

calgarychef

If it's not artificial it brings the thought of spreading CWD to mind.  I'd have easily tried it if I didn't know that lil' fact, now I'd be reluctant.

Well it took me some time to finally run into my microbiology teacher to confirm what I already knew. The prion that causes the CWD and Blue Tongue etc are proteins. When the DNA is extracted from the glands the proteins do not follow. So you cannot introduce the disease into another area by using the lure elsewhere. Besides that you have to have a sample in the first place to replicate it.

Well I'm going to try it again this season as soon as I find time to get the cameras out. I used the preorbital last season without very much success. I'm not saying its not good it might just be my areas.
