DesertDude was generous enough to offer a dozen ACME shafts for the auction. They are 80#-85# spined POC shafts, 23/64" tapered to 5/16". With 160gr tips they fly beautifully out of my Blacktail bow.  I have seen some of you guys make arrows without the crown dip but staining the crown. I liked that so much I did these that way. I hope I did them well DesertDude!

Nice! Love the feather splice. I'm getting ready to try my hand at splicing when my feathers get here. Hope that turn out that good.

I like the looks of the stained crown.  Wood is made to be admired, not painted over.  I might be a little biased, since I'm a finish carpenter.

Handsome as all you fletching work snag!

I really like the look. I think I will be triying that on my next batch. Do you tape off the shaft to get a straight line between the two stain colors or do you just eyeball it and overlap the lighter stain onto the dark?

Glad you like the results. I do tape over the area where I want the stain line to be. I agree Grapes. I like the wood showing instead of a crown dipped with paint.

Nice job Snag. Another great idea on making arrows. I don't need anymore but I may make some anyway. I just love making them. Gary

snag

I'm with you on this Gary. Just love making up different combos and seeing them come together as a functional arrow.
