Hello,
I read in another forum that some Wes Bows are not crafted for FF strings but accept only Dacron strings.... do you know what model and from what year the bows accept FF stings..??? I have one Mentor from 2004 and one friend of mine have another 2005 one.
Thanks
Carlo

Simple answer Carlo is to email Wes although he is kind of slow to respond ( 1 man shop) but he will get back to you. Would think that those Mentors would be FF but it is merely a guess. Great bows by the way.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

It has nothing to do with the year it was built.  It is whether or not it was ordered for FF or Dacron.  Call Wes or email with the year and the serial number of the bow and he will tell you which it is.  Shooting dacron is always a safe bet, you can't hurt the bow and dacron is only a couple a feet per second slower than FF.

Ragnarok Forge

I have two if his bows 2008 & 2009.  Both came with D97 strings.  If there is glass and phenolic on the tips they will handle modern strings.  Save the wait on the email and call Wes direct.  His number is on his website.  Wes Wallace Custom Bows.  He is a great guy and will be happy to answer your questions.

Carlo,
If you want PM me the years and serial numbers of the Mentors. I'll be calling Wes this coming Monday to order another Royal TD. I'll see if I can get the info from him for you and PM it back.

I believe Wes started reinforcing the tips in 2000.

Carlo,

To me, photos always help to clarify any doubts.

I would suggest you take a few photos of the limb tips, and send them along with your email.

Regards!
David

P.S.  My first Wes Wallace Mentor was made in 1998, and the limbs were strictly non-FF.  However, when the limbs were reworked last year... Wes made them FF compatible.

From what I know of it, owning two WW bows for over 15 years, all of his bows are made for flemish twist stings.   No endless loop or fast flight at all.

I use his strings on every one of my bows including my Big River, Holcombs, Bruin and old Bears.

Diamond Paul

I've got several.  He reinforces the tips for fastflight and they come with ff strings.  Every one I've had since 2000 has been ok to shoot with ff, don't know before that.  He makes a real nice bow, just got another one last week.
