I have a slight creak in my Brackenberry shadow. and when fired it ratles a touch. In the flyer that came with the bow it says to put grease between the limb and riser but what kind of grease would you use? Thanx Travis

COMPOUNDLESS IN CONCRETE

The bowstring wax worked but it wears off so I made little rubber gaskets out of bicycle innertube and put that between the limb and riser and the creak as well as a lot of vibration disappeared.

Whump Sez; I would be sure of the brace height--that will cause a rattle big time if it is too low, especially on a 3 piece. You could try twisting your string up a turn and see if the rattle situation improves . Syn lubes rarely have odor and they hang in there without drying out. I use  Dow corning vacuum grease on my bow bolt threads to cut out the slight gap in the front when the bow is strung. The Dow grease is used for ground glass connections in a chemical lab and is really stiff. It is expensive but once you rub it on you are done.  Hunt Safe

I had a Brach Legend do the same thing .. I put felt between the riser and limbs and lubed the limb bolts with sting wax

I put the wax in there and shot it and it got considerabley quieter, the brace height is in specs, and it is barely noticeable right now. I was woundering if the felt would mess with the bow at all? if not where would I find it? thanx Travis

Felt - tanned hide - any soft cloth will work.  I think the tire inner tube is a great idea, probably the best because it also adds vibration dampening.  None will effect the bow and all will help quiet it down.  I will 2nd the brace height and think you should try twisting the string a couple turns at a time until it gets real quiet.  Suggested brace height is just that, "A suggestion" and every bow will shoot differently.  Even for different shooters and a perfect brace for you on one bow may not work for me.  Draw length, release and arrow choice will effect it.  Add something between the limbs and riser then play with you brace - all will be good.

**DONOTDELETE**

Hush puppy, Bow hush, bow wax and Moleskin and My recurve is just as quiet as My long bow is.

I put the moleskin on the limb tips and under the limbs at the riser, wax up the limb bolts.. and play with brace.
