Synthetic Jute Material for ghille suit

Is anyone familiar with this type jute for their ghille? One web sight advertises no UV brighteners and the other site that appears to have the same product doesn't. Here lies my problem. The site advertising no UV brighteners charges $26.00 for shipping and the other site is free shipping. Is $26.00 worth the piece of mind in the field?

I have killed a lot of deer in " Bright UV " clothing. Save the cash on shipping. I would bet you $100 that they are the exact same material and one company is marketing to the UV frightened masses.

Thanks for the advice. I'm pretty sure they are the exact same product. They mostly market this type of jute for paintball guys from what I can tell. Looks like the way to go, light weight and fire- retardent.

The only benny to synthetic is probably the no smell.Jute has an odor you have to air out .

Miles Tactical advertises no UV brighteners in there synthetic jute kit.

UV brightners are actually a dye used in some cloth coloring processes and can be found in quite a few brands of detergent.

I have no scientific data of my own that says it makes any difference if my hunting clothes show up to deer more with brightners or not, but like using "no scent" soap every little bit helps.

I would get the cheaper stuff and then wash it in UV Killer soap (probably want to wash it anyway). That way you have no worries.

Is the synthetic stuff lighter than the jute material? Less likely to get waterlogged in the rain? I have a Rancho Safari ghillie made from strips of camo cloth. It could use a "spruceing up".

As far as I can tell they claim it to be scent free, lightweight, fire-retardent, and it won't rot or mildew. Sounds like the way to go.

Fire retardant is the best thing going for synthetic. Jute or burlap ghillie suits go up like a torch. Saw on guy smoking in one in the Army. We ended up cutting him out of it real quick when it went up. He built his next one with velcro instead of buttons for a quick escape.

Synthetic is also lighter and doesn't hold water like jute does. A jute ghille can get seriously heavy in the rain.

The guys at Ghilliesuit.com are pretty special to deal with. I took an ole crappy leafy suit that was awful and hand sewed bundles of the synthetic stuff on it and it works pretty well...but it still does have an odor.

It comes in a horrendous big ole bundle. I have no idea how the blazes you'd "wash" it before use. I just have dunked mine after I finished the 'suit' and rinsed in a big tub and let it hang outside.

I want to get their longcoat version though. I have pants & jacket with snap legs to slip on when I get to the woods. Run and gun(bow) is a pill as it does pick up every bit of duff in the forest!

Doesn't rot. Doesn't hold a lot of water. Won't mildew. Synthetic is light and works for me.

How is the synthetic material as far as noise? I'm looking at buying a ghillie this year and don't know whether to get the Rancho Safari jacket, or get one of the cheaper ones with the synthetic string material.
