I'm fixing to order thin strings for all my bows and have heard not to use string leaches w/ them as they will cut quickly....
Want something water proof, but not a big catwhisker fan as I hate the "slapping" noise that come w/ them unless you cut them down to a tiny little ball....

I'm shooting my 60" Shawnee LB w/ a thin right now w/ nothing on the string and the bow is scarey quiet other than a slight twang...cant' wait to see what they'll do for my Shawnee recurve and Hoyt Gamemaster....

Will any of the new "leach" style silencers work/last better than others?  Bowjacks?  Pigtails?  etc?  or should I just go back to old school w/ these strings?

They can have my bow when it's pried from my cold dead fingers.

Hush Puppies. If your bow is that quiet already you can use one pup per string. Cut them in half makes a little ball. Look really cool too.

You know the big, thick, white rubber bands Walmart uses around their sprigs of asparagus?

Cut a 1" section & use it like you would the string leeches. Does exactly the same job, costs nothing, weighs nothing & lasts quite a bit longer too!

The new Everlast Leeches don't cut. Just need to serve them in so that when you unstring the bow they stay put.

1" Catwhisker top and bottom. just tie them on. Takes out the twang, super quiet.

vermonster13

That's what I use mostly too Bob. But he says he doesn't like that look.

OK Rob....grilled Asparagus this weekend!  You sure got my curiosity w/ that one!  That's a gotta try for me.

I may just order my new strings w/ the small catwhiskers already in them and just shut up and not mess w/ something that works.

Loved the leaches....may have to try the new ones and see how they do.

Thanks fellas...I really do appreciate it!

the newer string leeches as vermonster mentioned!

Catwhiskers work great on my skinny strings. I use 6 strand 450+ on all my bows.

Musk ox silencers are the absolute best I've used. They beat cat whiskers by a mile, IMO.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

I just buy good wool yarn and make my own. You can make them as small as you want if they work. You buy one bundle it will last a lot of life times.

Agree with Craig!  I tried some Bowjax and i wasn't impressed to say the least.

Wool is all it takes. Fur works great too.

Mike,
Order them from SBD & get the silencers installed by them. One of the quietest skinny strings I've ever shot & the workmanship is flawless.

Age brings us the priceless gift of experience and knowledge. . . Priceless, but not free.

amicus

The hush puppies work great. I only use 1 hush pup split in half to make 2 silencers. About 10 strands of wool.
