I'm a Cheezehead and will be hunting public land.  Any suggestion on things to bring or something I wouldn't do in Wisconsin.

I think they have an early muzzleloader season (don't know when), I'd stay away from that season.

I'm not putting up with this guys shit and dogging me.

The muzzleloader season is the last 2 weeks in Sept. What part of the state is 3 and 4 in?

I also drew an archery tag for Kansas. Will be hunting public land in SE part of the state. Have hunted there four different years and saw lots more deer there than I've seen in northern Wisconsin over the past few seasons. Find a trail between feeding and bedding areas and hang a stand... worked for me. Calls in early Nov. also worked well. Tom

Todd,

I turkey hunt north of there and also put in for a deer tag out there this year.  I don't know what you are driving, but I have never seen dirt roads as impassable with a TINY bit of moisture than the ones is KS.  Bring gnarly mud tires, 4wd, and a tow strap.  I am thinking about bringing a quad cause I don't know if my truck will make it

Fritz

I'll second what Steve said about the mud. I've never seen anything like it. Just a very light rain and you'll feel like your driving on grease.

Why would these guys leave the great state of Wi. to hunt deer?

If you're hunting in September, bring a thermacell.  I've bowhunted Ks. for the past 35 years.  My buddies and I have taken some awesome deer.  Good luck.

Yep, I have a couple spots I like to hunt that I just scratch off the list of possibilities if it has rained.  Most of the roads are covered with rocks, but if it isn't...well, let's just say having four wheel drive doesn't help much!

Haven't looked at the unit maps in along time.  Where are units 3 and 4?

It is a little different for non residents.

In my case, the land I hunt is in Zone 7. So I put in for zone 7 as my first choice, but you are allowed two more choices.  Each other choice I would pick a zone that connects to Zone 7 as your tag is good for the area you choose and one other zone that connects to it...so I would choose zone 7.

So Todd picked zone 3 and added zone 4 as his adjoining zone.  On his 2nd and 3rd choices, if he wanted to hunt zone 3, he would choose zone 7 and zone 4.

Got it?

Biggie-- WE knew you were kidding--we were out there turkey hunting this spring   :biglaugh:
